Translation

The price of a translation is typically calculated based on the total number of words of the source text.

This is done by analyzing the source text using a CAT tool or various other tools depending on the type of document.

The word rate may vary but will generally range from 0.08 EUR to 0.1 EUR per word, excluding VAT.

Apart from the project’s word volume, the following factors may influence my rates:

  • Document type
  • Area and sector
  • Deadline and urgency
  • Research and specialization

For more extensive projects I may choose to work with hourly rates which is typically more advantageous.

Note that a fixed minimum fee applies to short translations limited to one page, regardless of the total number of words.

Discounts may apply to new clients and to high-volume or long-term translation projects.

Proofreading & revision

As with translation, rates are generally based on the total number of words. The cost of reviewing or proofreading a text will nevertheless be lower than that of a translation, usually about half.

Note that a fixed minimum fee applies to proofreading or revising short texts limited to one page, regardless of the total number of words.

Localization

The price of a localization is more dependent on the type.

In the case of a user interface I can base myself upon a PO file and take the word volume into account. When localizing a website, rates can be determined by word volume or the number of pages.

Usually an hourly rate is more applicable to localization projects, especially if the localization also requires working directly with a content management system such as WordPress.

Payment

I exclusively work by invoice. Payment is possible by wire transfer or Paypal, preferably in EUR. If you have any specific needs, do not hesitate to contact me.
